For well over a year I have enjoyed posting a sharing music with everyone who bothered to check (Czech) out this blog. It was nice to share and not be obnoxiously recommending music to people who were not looking for it. But now I feel it is time that I part ways with Furlong Beaker. This is my own decision and Graeme is free to do as he chooses with the blog

Thank you for following.

De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da - The Police

I always thought the Police had really good lyrics but that this song was an aberration, but if you actually listen to it and what he is saying it makes beautiful sense.

“Don’t think me unkind
Words are hard to find
They’re only cheques I’ve left unsigned
From the banks of chaos in my mind
And when their eloquence escapes me
Their logic ties me up and rapes me”

The Clock - Thom Yorke

Interesting version of the song with Thom playing like a man possessed. Watch! Watch! Watch!

Come On -Melted Toys

These guys are a fantastic band from San Francisco. I just started listening to their ep, Washed and Dried, this morning and it’s sounding pretty great. Indie Gem

Make It Wit Chu - Queens of The Stone Age

In the ongoing story of Kent’s influence on what I’ve been listening to recently, his playing this song lead me to getting the album (Era Vulgaris). It also helps that this song reminds me of David Bowie.

Down on me - The Jesus and Mary Chain

Depressing lyrics, but fun song nonetheless haha

I’m Losing Myself - Robin Pecknold feat. Ed Droste

A Fleet Fox teamed up with some Grizzly Bear, awesome.

In My Eyes - Minor Threat

Just had an epic music exchange with my friend Kent that will probably be influencing my posts for a little while. I scored some Minor Threat from him and was going to post it as the song but I liked this concert video.

Cannibals - The Units

It’s time to get pumped about the Furlong Beaker Revivial. I figured that since Graeme has been giving this another go I should too. So here we go.

Cut Copy - Where I’m Going

I went to see these guys at the beginning of last year with some friends of mine, it was quite a bit of fun. Call me crazy but I think I detect a bit of an influence from fellow Australian band Tame Impala in this song (this may just be because I’ve been listening to Innerspeaker so much).

Tame Impala - Runaway, Houses, City, Clouds

Tame Impala, a four member rock band from Australia, weaves songs full of effects laden guitars, minimalist bass lines, and echoing vocals.

Throughout the album lead vocalist Kevin Parker sounds very reminiscent of John Lennon circa the Beatles’ psychedelic years but it works for him. Similar to fellow Australian rockers Wolfmother, Tame Impala embraces a nostalgic feel of classic rock but feel fresh solely because there are many active bands that sound like them.

Innerspeaker, their debut full length album, is a well-balanced never letting up and just when you think it’s starting to lose momentum it picks back up and draws you in with interesting production flourishes and epic soaring combinations of guitar and vocals. This album is best listened to as a whole so set aside some time and set your mind free.

If you are a fan of classic psychedelic rock from the late sixties and early seventies definitely check out Innerspeaker by Tame Impala.
